General iCourt Portal Questions

  • As a public user, do I need to register for access?
  • If you are a member of the general public or media, you do not need to register on the iCourt Portal.

  • Extended access is provided to federal, state, and local officials, or their agents, in the exercise of their official duties, as governed by Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32 and the Idaho Supreme Court Extended Access Order.
  • What is the process for applying for extended access?
  • Applying for extended access to the iCourt Portal is a two-step process, requiring self-registration for an account and making a request for greater access, which must be approved by both the Idaho Supreme Court and agency leadership or their designated agents. To learn more, click here.

Public Record Search Questions

  • Are electronic court records available for all 44 counties?
  • Yes, electronic court records are available for all 44 counties.
  • How far back do the records go?
  • Electronic records are available from 1995 and forward, although some information for older cases may be available.
  • What information is available to the public?
  • All public court records are made available according to the rules outlined in Idaho Court Administrative Rule (ICAR) 32.

    The public shall have access to the following if they exist in electronic form:

  • • Litigant/party indexes to cases filed with the court
  • • Listings of new filings, including the names of the parties
  • • The chronological case summary of events
  • • Calendars or dockets of court proceedings, including case numbers and captions, date and time of hearings, and locations of hearings

  • The status of both pending and closed cases is available to the public. However, to ensure personal privacy, the following information is not provided to the public:

  • • Social security numbers
  • • Addresses
  • • Telephone numbers
  • • Any personal identification numbers (including motor vehicle operator's license numbers and financial account numbers)
  • Who can access confidential court records on iCourt Portal?
  • Access to confidential court records is governed by Idaho Court Administrative Rule 32. The Idaho Supreme Court may authorize access to confidential court records for federal, state, and local officials, or their agents, in the exercise of their official duties and powers as deemed appropriate.   • Who do I contact with questions about specific case information that appears on iCourt Portal?
  • You must contact the Office of the Clerk or the courthouse in the county where the case originated. Please click here for a local court directory.

Extended Access FAQs

  • Do I need to "Register" on the iCourt Portal?
  • If you are a member of the general public or media, you do not need to register on the Portal. Registration is only for users who require "extended access" which is provided to federal, state, and local officials, or their agents, in the exercise of their official duties.
  • How do I apply for extended access for the new system, iCourt Portal?
  • Once you have read ICAR 32 and conclude a need for access, you will need to register at mycourts.idaho.gov. More information about the complete registration process can be found here.
  • I've had "extended access" to ISTARS/Data Repository in the past, what do I need to do?
  • If you currently have an active Repository account, you do not need to do anything further. If you need to also establish an iCourt Portal account, the complete registration instructions can be found here. Once your request has been processed, you will be notified of approval or denial via email.
  • What is "extended access" and how do I qualify for it?
  • The Idaho Supreme Court may authorize ‘extended access’ to confidential court records for federal, state, and local officials, or their agents, in the exercise of their official duties and powers as deemed appropriate.
