02.02.18 - Free, online court filing tool now available for small businesses
The Court Assistance Office just launched a new online tool that enables individuals and small businesses without legal representation to navigate the legal process and file specific claims for free, online.
Specifically, iCourt Guide & File (https://guideandfile.idaho.gov) walks users through an interview-style process to gather key information for the relevant filing (ex. small claims, divorce, and other common filings) and helps to package the filing at the conclusion of the process. In counties where iCourt has been implemented, the tool can file electronically with the court. For those counties still in transition, filings can be printed and submitted manually.
Small claims will be available initially at launch. We expect additional filing types to be available soon, including:
- Divorce no minor children
- Minor guardianship
- Protection orders
Guide and File is another free resource provided by the Court Assistance Office, which also offers Idaho citizens and businesses a variety of resources at no cost, including free legal clinics. You can find your local office and other details at courtselfhelp.idaho.gov.
